Overview
Are you a new or soon to be Registered Nurse with a desire to improve the well-being of Vermonts most vulnerable populations? The State of Vermont is currently hiring entry-level Registered Nurses within our Vermont Psychiatric Care Hospital in Berlin! This position is a great opportunity for new or soon to be Registered Nurses who would like to develop a specialty in behavioral health. Additional mentoring and oversight will be given in the course of your daily work.We are currently hiring for the night shift.
\ As a Registered Nurse, you will be responsible for assessment, evaluation, and coordination of care and services to individuals experiencing psychiatric illnesses. Care and treatment may involve individuals with a variety of physical, emotional, mental and/or psychiatric disabilities. The Registered Nurse will also be responsible for developing individualized nursing care plans, administering prescribed treatments and medications, and collaboration with community health services and families.
*Starting rate may be negotiable based on experience and qualifications.
**This position is eligible for full retirement after 20 years of service in eligible positions in recognition of the challenges of front-line mental health work. More information can be found here.
Environmental Factors
Duties primarily performed in a clinical setting. Work may require travel off-site. Exposure to communicable diseases, blood borne pathogens, potentially physically and verbally violent patient population and other stressful situations may occur. May be required to work evenings, nights, weekends and extended shifts as the need arises.
