Job Description Summary

At Avio Aero, a GE Aerospace company, we’ve been reimagining the power of flight for more than 100 years. We are specialized in the design, production and maintenance of components and systems for both the civil and military aviation.

As Embedded Control Software Engineer you will be part of Controls Accessories & Marine (CA&M) - Embedded Software & Digital Applications organization.

In this role you will manage software high level requirements, requirements flow down from system level to software levels, design, implementation and additional documentation for embedded control software for safety/mission critical systems.

In addition you will conduct assessments and develop action plans to anticipate and respond to problems, participate as a presenter in technical and program reviews and be part of a team with a full ownership of embedded software development while remaining a close interaction with Control System team.

Job Description

Essential Responsibilities

  • Development assignments will involve the analysis of control and diagnostic requirements, the design the software, the automatic generation of the code (or hand coding) and the testing in simulation environments and on the real systems.

  • Utilize software engineering tools such as configuration management systems, build processes, and debuggers in the software development process.

  • Perform technical root cause analysis and outline corrective action for given problems.

  • Estimate level of effort, evaluate new options of similar technology, offer suggestions to improve processes, and provide comments on some electrical design aspects.

  • Participate in product and/or application definition activities including feature analysis and system tradeoffs.

  • Apply Avio Aero standards and applicable software development methodology and release processes.

  • Work collaboratively and professionally with other Avio Aero associates in cross functional teams to achieve goals.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Engineering or other STEM disciplines with experience in software design and development

  • Good knowledge of FDMC product architecture

  • Previous experience on FDMC software

  • Good ability to capture and document software requirements.

  • Experience in control sw algorithm design and development of real-time software

  • Experience in software platform, user-interface design and/or systems engineering

  • Good knowledge of control system development tools like Matlab and Simulink

  • Good knowledge of relevant software engineering tools (configuration management systems, build processes, debuggers, emulators, simulators and logic analyzers)

  • Good knowledge of C programming, microcontrollers and related development tool chain

  • Good organization and problem solving approach

  • Self-motivated and able to work independently

  • Capable of working collaboratively in a strong team environment.

  • Clear thinking and diligent approach

  • Passion for innovation and software innovation

  • Fluent Italian and English (written and spoken)

  • Work Visa, in accordance with local regulation, is required

  • Experience with software engineering tools (e.g. DOORS, SCADE, Matlab, Simulink, Change & Synergy), programming languages (ANSI C, MISRA C) and processes for requirements & logic design, simulation and validation within simulated environment
