How? Become an Operations Business Line Leader II in Abbott Vascular site, located in Barceloneta, Puerto Rico. This position is for our Whisper and Line 4 area in a second shift.

As an Operations Business Line Leader II you will oversee the operations and personnel of the production line to maximize productivity and operating efficiencies. Oversees the coordination of labor, materials, equipment, and tooling to assemble product effectively and deliver it to inventory. Maintains a high level of product quality and trace ability during product assembly. Ensures production is performed in full compliance with the Quality System and all procedural requirements. Promotes safe work environment and behaviors. Collaborates with other departments and functions as required in support of meeting operational objectives. Participate in the development and guidance of Associate Business Line Leaders and Business Line Leader I in Operations


  • Schedules and organizes assigned production lines to achieve supply commitments and maintain targeted levels of inventories .

  • Monitors daily line metrics and provide direction and guidance to skilled nonexempt staff to achieve unit or project goals.

  • Coordinates activities related to shift starts and changes.

  • Understands all line PFM's. Proposes and updates PFM’s based on process changes or station improvements.

  • Manages staffing plan by identifying resource requirements, writing justifications for additional personnel, obtaining approval for changes, and coordinating the selection process with Human Resources. Monitors and reports on performance to Operational & Financial metrics for the area.

  • Develop and execute strategies for Cost Improvement of assigned line(s).

  • Manages submission of operational data in support of Financial Latest Best Estimate (LBE) cycles. Oversees personnel and processes to ensure full compliance with internal and external regulations.

  • Oversees personnel and processes to ensure production meets all associated quality standards. Serve as primary liaison with Regulatory Compliance team during audit preparation activities and during audits. Manage investigations for man related quality incidents and drives implementation of corrective actions along with Quality department. Serve as primary operational contact for any New Product Introductions (NPI’s), or new equipment qualification & validation activities.

  • Maintains a safe work environment with 100% training and compliance to applicable procedures. Manage investigations for safety incidents, and drive implementation of corrective actions along with Safety MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES department. Provides direct coaching and guidance to Business Line Leader peers in preparing training plans to achieve ergonomic rotation goals.

  • Communicates to line personnel daily while maintaining a constant line presence. Responsible for achieving department attendance targets including immediate feedback to employees by instance. Interprets and executes policies that affect work processes and personnel within the assigned area. Develops direct reports by securing appropriate training, assigning progressively challenging tasks, rewarding positive behavior, and applying disciplinary action as appropriate. Provides direct coaching and guidance to Business Line Leader peers in achieving their respective operational goals.

To be successful in this role, you will require the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree. Bachelor in Business Administration or Engineering is preferred.

  • Ability to speak and write in Spanish and English, advanced.

  • 5+­ years of related work experience in a regulated manufacturing environment (medical devices preferred).

  • Managing progress of nonexempt employees for one production line toward achievement of departmental goals.

  • Manage costs of projects, manpower, and material resources for one production line.
