Job Designation The Electrician position consists of installing, repairing and maintaining plant electrical systems and equipment throughout the Akron facility with minimal supervision. Job Core Responsibilities Responsible for locating electrical issues, trouble shooting, diagnosis and repair of electrical equipment and systems in the plant. Repair work includes adjustment and complete rebuilding of various tube circuits in spot-welding machinery. Work from general assignments and complete projects with little to no direct supervision. Works on both A.C. and D.C. currents and completes conduit work (installation and replacement). Wiring equipment properly to ensure the proper operation of equipment and the safety of others. Advise management on whether continued operation of equipment could be hazardous. Maintain equipment through preventative maintenance. Minor metal fabrication and repair work including associated welding may be required. Some computer and phone cable installation may be performed Prepares sketches showing location of wiring and equipment and creation of material lists needed to complete a job. Responsible for using electrician's tools, accessories and testing equipment. Operating mobile equipment including scooters, tow motors, mules and lifts (training provided). May direct, instruct and train other electricians. Compliance with all safety, work rules and regulations. Demonstrate safe work habits and proper care of equipment and tools. Job Specifications Education & Experience: Journeyman Electrician certification from a recognized trade/industrial educational program, or eight (8) years documented electrical work experience. Skills: Requires knowledge of electrical circuits, controls, systems, power lines, power distribution systems, automatic and remote controls, bus bars, switches and miscellaneous electrical equipment. Excellent troubleshooting skills with the ability to understand production equipment processes. Ability to locate an electrical issue, trouble shoot, diagnose and repair any variety of electrical equipment or systems. Ability to read electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic schematics to diagnose equipment issues. Ability to understand and interpret electrical drawings, wiring and ladder diagrams.
