Job Title: DERMS Functional Consultant (Remote) Overview: As a DERMS Functional Consultant, you will be at the forefront of managing distributed energy resources (DERs) within an electric utility. Your expertise will contribute to optimizing grid operations, integrating renewable energy sources, and ensuring grid reliability. Responsibilities: 1. DERMS Implementation and Integration: - Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, configure, and deploy the DERMS solution. - Ensure seamless integration of DERMS with existing systems, including SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition), ADMS (Advanced Distribution Management System), and other grid management tools. 2. Requirements Gathering and Analysis: - Work closely with utility stakeholders to understand their DER-related needs. - Translate business requirements into functional specifications for DERMS implementation. 3. Solution Design and Documentation: - Lead the design of DERMS functionalities based on utility requirements. - Document system architecture, data flows, and configuration details. 4. DER Optimization and Control: - Utilize DERMS capabilities to optimize the performance of distributed energy resources. - Implement control strategies for DERs, including demand response, load shifting, and grid support. 5. Grid Reliability and Resilience: - Collaborate with grid operators to enhance grid reliability through DERMS. - Develop strategies for integrating DERs while maintaining system stability. 6. Testing and Validation: - Develop test plans and scenarios for DERMS functionality. - Conduct system testing, user acceptance testing (UAT), and performance validation. 7. Training and Support: - Train end-users, field personnel, and system administrators on DERMS functionalities. - Provide ongoing support during system rollout and post-implementation. 8. Continuous Improvement: - Stay informed about industry trends, regulatory changes, and emerging technologies related to DERMS. - Propose enhancements to optimize DERMS performance and adapt to evolving grid needs. Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field. - Minimum of 3 years of experience working with DERMS solutions in the utility sector. - Technical knowledge of DER technologies, including solar PV, battery storage, electric vehicles, and microgrids. - Familiarity with utility grid operations and distribution system management. Skills and Competencies: - Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. - Excellent communication and collaboration abilities. Understanding of grid modernization, renewable energy integration, and grid resilience. This position is also eligible for Cognizant's discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant's applicable plans.
