Have a passion for working with children? Join our Early Head Start/Head Start team, providing early childhood education services. Penquis, a social services agency serving Penobscot, Piscataquis, and Knox counties for over 50 years, is currently seeking 2 part time, Center Aides. As the Center Aide, you are a nurturing, positive, team member working closely with the lead teacher.

Location: Bangor, Maine

Center Aide Hours- (Hours may have the option to be flexible)

Monday-Friday: 7:30am-11:30am

Monday-Friday: 1:00pm-5:00 pm

Center Aide Responsibilities:

  • Greeting children, getting them settled into the facility.

  • Assisting with classroom and playground supervision, and other daily activities related to the operation of the classroom, including light cleaning duties.

  • Maintain the confidentiality of client files and information.

Center Aide Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent and up to 12 months of experience.

  • Ability to read, write and perform basic math functions.

  • A minimum of an age-appropriate Child Development Accreditation (CDA) must be obtained within first 12 months of assignment to an Early Head Start/Infant Toddler/Head Start classroom. Penquis Child Development will pay for newly hired staff to obtain appropriate credentials or continued educational opportunities!

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.

  • Upon hire and periodically thereafter, must comply with Penquis background check requirements with satisfactory results as outlined in current contract provisions.

Eligible upon hire, new employees in our Early Childhood programs who work 24-40 hours per week, will receive a monthly stipend which is based on your lattice through MRTQ (Maine Roads to Quality).

The starting rate of pay for the Center Aide position is $16.10 per hour and additional compensation may be given consideration with relevant experience.
