The Opportunity

We are currently looking for experienced self-motivated individuals with expertise and passion who can lead a team in solving challenging problems in AI, distributed systems and virtualized infrastructure. Engineering / R&D at Nutanix

The Nutanix AI team is responsible for the GPT-in-a-Box solution that includes everything needed to build AI-ready infrastructure. This includes

  • The software-defined Nutanix Cloud Platform™ infrastructure supports GPU-enabled server nodes for seamless scaling of virtualized compute, storage and networking, supporting both traditional virtual machines and Kubernetes-orchestrated containers.

  • Files and Objects storage to fine-tune and run a choice of GPT models

  • Open source software to deploy and run AI workloads

  • The management interface or standard CLI

  • Support for a curated set of LLMs, including Llama2, Falcon and MPT

Your Role

  • Hire/build, coach, and grow a high-performing team of talented engineers with diverse skill-sets.

  • A strong leader capable of motivating the very best software engineers, as well as gaining their respect.

  • Collaborate with the geo-distributed team to own and deliver projects end to end

  • Communicate across functional teams and drive engineering initiatives

  • Participate in architecture and technical design and drive product direction & strategy

Management Responsibilities

  • Manage and grow an existing team.

  • Refine and grow existing processes or develop new ones to enable smooth functioning of the engineering team

  • Drive development of timely and high quality software releases

What You Will Bring

Required Technical Skills

  • Strong coding experience in one or more languages: Go, Python etc.

  • Strong experience in docker, kubernetes and cloud native technologies

  • Strong understanding of datacenter design including compute, storage, and networking

  • Familiarity with on prem, cloud and hybrid software deployment architectures

  • Proven technical leadership in designing and tuning high performance system software

  • Strong understanding of distributed compute and storage architectures

  • Familiarity with machine learning concepts and popular frameworks (like Tensorflow, PyTorch etc)

  • Experience of building full stack multi-tenant services on a virtualized infrastructure is a very strong plus.

Qualifications and Experience

  • BS/ MS/PhD in Computer Science or Engineering

  • 10+ Years of experience, 4+ Years of management experience(Preferably in a Cloud/AI/SaaS team)

  • Proven hands-on technical management

  • Experience with Agile methodologies

  • Experience working in a high growth multinational company environment.

About the Team

About Your Manager:

You'll be reporting to Johnu George, a Staff Engineer at Nutanix. Johnu holds an MS degree in Computer Science from Texas A&M University, College Station and has previously worked at Tejas Networks and Cisco. Currently, he is leading ML Systems at Nutanix. Johnu is passionate about open source contributions and leads various ML communities. He is a founding member of MLCommons Storage working group and currently serves as a Kubeflow Steering Committee member.
