The Azure Storage team is hiring an experienced Software Engineer Manager to help lead an engineering team in deploying Data Processing Unit (DPU) technology.


As a Software Engineer Manager in Azure Storage, you will lead a team building performant scale out block storage on DPU hardware. You will lead a fast growing team with cloud and enterprise storage backgrounds. Your team will be involved in all phases of the storage lifecycle; design, implementation, test, deployment and support.

Responsibilities

  • Coaches and supports partnership with appropriate stakeholders (e.g., project manager, technical lead) to determine user requirements within teams.

  • Coaches teams and drives identification of dependencies and the development of design documents for a product, application, service, or platform.

  • Coaches team members within the team in producing extensible and maintainable code.

  • Coaches team to drive multiple group's project plans, release plans, and work items in coordination with appropriate stakeholders (e.g., project managers).

  • Coaches others and acts as a Designated Responsible Individual (DRI) and guides other engineers across products, working on call to monitor system/product/service for degradation, downtime, or interruptions.

  • Seeks new knowledge that will improve the availability, reliability, efficiency, observability, and performance of products while also driving consistency in monitoring and operations at scale and shares knowledge with other engineers.

  • Experience in Kernel level programming, device drivers, or embedded software.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or related technical discipline AND 15+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to C

  • OR equivalent experience.

  • 8+ years of block storage experience including snapshot technology, data compression and log structured storage.

Other Qualifications:

  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: 

  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 15+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C.

  • OR Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C.

  • OR equivalent experience.

  • 3+ years people management experience.
