Pratt & Whitney Digital Technology team is seeking a high-energy Software Developer to join our Engineering Applications team where you will have the opportunity to design and build the next generation of Digital Engineering applications, pushing the boundaries on knowledge management modernization and other key initiatives, in support of the Engineering function. You will be a technical contributor for a highly collaborative global team responsible for delivery of software to our engineering customers and partners.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Software development, web applications in Java, Javascript or similar (C#, C++, etc) as part of a Scrum Team

  • Design, develop, deploy, and manage cloud-based software.

  • Leverage cloud native technologies and environments.

  • 2 years’ experience deploying applications working with Cloud Technologies (e.g. Kubernetes, Docker, Terraform) on one or more cloud providers (e.g. Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud)

  • Be available for application deployments and go-live support

  • Implement CI/CD Platforms through DevSecOps pipeline (github actions)

  • Version control (git)

  • Implement data pipelines with Airflow or similar technology

  • Comfortable with automated unit and integration testing. Assist with testing of the application, in coordination with QA / Testing teams

  • Assist with deployment of application performance monitoring tools to improve the performance and reliability of applications (Datadog, Grafana)

  • In conjunction with the Product Owner, participate in and execute actions from retrospective team meetings.

  • Collaborate with research scientists, software engineers and business owners to align cloud engineering requirements and priorities.

  • Help design and build enterprise application integrations solutions to enable end-to-end data connectivity across the organization

  • Familiarity with Bash scripting, Linux

Experience/Qualifications:

  • 7 to 12 years of experience

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Mathematics, Physics, Electrical Engineering or related field.

  • Python

  • SQL and databases

  • Agile tool set (confluence, jira)

  • Knowledge and experience working in Agile / Scrum teams, including daily standups, retrospectives, demos/reviews

  • Experience with AWS/Azure native services (Ex. Kafka, EC2, S3, Databricks, Lambda, SQS, VMs).

  • Experience with Containers and Kubernetes.

  • Experience with microservice architecture and full-stack development

  • Willingness to learn new technologies & take on new projects to grow experience, and grow the strategy/adoption of these new initiatives

  • Proven track record of delivering software solutions

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree

  • Experience with FORTRAN is a plus

  • Familiarity with both Waterfall and Agile methodologies

  • Good communication skills, work ethic and a high level of personal integrity and accountability

  • Highly self-directed and able to learn quickly with a solid ability to drive and deliver results

  • Strong analytical skills, demonstrated organizational and leadership skills, examples of effective teamwork, a track record of consistently meeting deadlines and due dates

  • You're comfortable working with minimal daily supervision and to balance numerous priorities

  • Ability to remain calm and composed under pressure, in a fast-paced environment of rapidly changing demands
