Microsoft Corporation Software Engineer II in Bangalore, India

The Azure SQL team in Azure Data at Microsoft is responsible for Azure SQL DB, SQL MI, SQL VM (IaaS) cloud services, SQL Server on-prem and Arc enabled SQL Server. Together they power many of the worlds mission critical databases and are deployed by most of the Fortune 1000 companies. A key part of the database experience are the client SDK's we provide developers for connecting to the SQL family of databases all the way from on-premises to the cloud. These SDK's span a variety of languages and frameworks such as Python, Java, C++, C# and related object relational mapping frameworks.

We're looking for a Software Engineer to join our team, focusing on enhancing SQL Server Client drivers. This role involves improving performance, reliability, and integration with data frameworks. Ideal for a detail-oriented individual, it requires adherence to best practices and quality code reviews, with a strong emphasis on customer-focused solutions.

In this role, you'll address technical challenges and contribute significantly to development efforts, ensuring our products meet and exceed customer expectations. Your work will mainly influence your immediate team, with opportunities to impact broader projects.

Key responsibilities include coding, troubleshooting, and collaborating with peers to maintain high development standards and deliver customer-centric outcomes. This position offers a chance to support project execution and technical tasks.

Responsibilities

  • In this position, you will work with a team of engineers to design, implement, and maintain features in the for Sql Server Driver which is based on Tabular data stream protocol.

  • As a softwareengineer you will have the opportunity to develop excellent design skills and grow as an engineer.

  • You will work closely with tech-lead lead and program managers to ensure we are prioritizing the right customer asks.

  • You will improve and monitor telemetry to assess the health of the product in both pre-release as well as released software and use this data to drive improvements into the quality of the product.

  • Excellent communication and cross-group collaboration skills.

Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, or related technical discipline AND 3+ years technical engineering experience with coding in Java preferably.

  • A good understanding of database concepts and SQL

Other Requirements:

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:

  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

*Preferred/Additional Qualifications: *

  • Prior development experience with the Rust language is a plus.

  • Prior experience working with ODBC, JDBC, and other database drivers is a plus.
