The Opportunity

Join our team at Nutanix as a Sr Engineering Manager where you will play a crucial role in building a Data Management, Security, and compliance platform to support Nutanix Unified Storage (NUS) and other Industry Storage products. Your mission will be to help build reliable, efficient, and high-performance software for large-scale enterprise and hybrid clouds. Your work will involve understanding complex distributed systems and solving customer requirements. By assembling a team of highly motivated engineers and building a reliable data platform and driving the adoption of best practices, you will contribute to the success of our products. About the Team

You will report to Pankaj Sinha, who joined Nutanix in 2015 and is currently leading the Data Lens technical team. Pankaj has grown the team organically from zero engineers to a team of 50+, and he is currently leading the charter to build scalable and enterprise-grade data management, security, and compliance solutions such as Data pipeline, Smart Tiering, Ransomware protection, and Scheduler. With over 25 years of experience in building and shipping products with both enterprise and startups, including at Nutanix, Cisco, and Applied Materials, Pankaj brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the team.

Our work setup at Nutanix is hybrid, meaning you are expected to be in the office 2–3 times a week. Whether you are working remotely or in the office, the team operates as a cohesive unit, collaborating across different time zones and regions. The in-office days provide opportunities for team members to engage in face-to-face interactions, brainstorming sessions, and team-building activities, fostering a sense of camaraderie and synergy within the team.

Your Role

People Management

  • Lead and grow a strong software engineering team of engineers spread across multiple locations in India and USA by focusing on establishing a culture of empowerment and growth.

  • Responsible for hiring, coaching, performance management, and career planning of engineers.

Product and Technical

  • Collaborate with other Product teams, QA and Product Management in defining the technical roadmap for the Data Lens product.

  • Drive scalable, extensible architecture by participating in architecture and technical design for a data platform.

Engineering Process & Release Management

  • Establish software development best practices and streamline release planning process to drive iterative and rapid feature deployment working with teams across geographies.

  • Drive development of timely and high-quality software releases

  • Collaborate with Program Management to define the release process.

What You Will Bring

  • BA, BS, or MS degree in computer science or related streams

  • 15+ years’ experience in software product development.

  • 4+ years’ experience in Engineering Management

  • Excellent written and oral communication

  • Experience with one or more of the following languages (Python, Java, Golang)

  • Experience working with Big Data technologies and one or more of the cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP etc.)

  • Experience with storage systems and/or the security domain.

  • Understanding of containers (Kubernates)

  • Having an owner’s mindset and experience working in a fast-paced and demanding environment

  • Good understanding and working experience in both SaaS and on-prem development best practices.
