Job Overview

TE Connectivity’s R&D/Product Development Engineering Teams are responsible for product design from concept through qualification. The 3D CAD model central to these products incorporates aspects of mechanical, electrical, and manufacturing disciplines. This team is responsible for managing, verifying, and applying those design aspects to 3D models in order to provide an improved model capable of further analysis by interdisciplinary engineering teams. Using your skills as a mechanical or assembly engineer to understand and implement these technical interactions as related to the model is critical.

Responsibilities:

As a part of the Product Development CAD modeling team, the candidate will support and interact with engineers in order to detail and enhance 3D CAD models of high speed TE Connectivity products. The position requires that the candidate both be able to work independently, and also regularly interface with engineering, manufacturing, and product teams to guide and assist with daily operations. The candidate will regularly:

•Collaborate with Product Development Engineers, Signal Integrity Engineers, and Manufacturing Engineers to verify design requirements

•Review and internalize a wide variety of design inputs, from 2D mechanical prints to industry standards documents

•Detail and enhance 3D models based on engineering input.

•Work through conflicts in design objectives to reach technical consensus

•Perform assembly-level tolerance analyses

•Interface with electrical simulation tools

•Document inputs, constraints, requirements, etc…

•Create presentations to communicate designs internally and with customers

Necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities:

•Must have Knowledge of 3D CAD design techniques, tools, and principals involved in producing CAD models and documentation

•Experience with ANSYS SpaceClaim

•Working knowledge of PTC Creo and PTC Windchill/PDMLink

•Knowledge of 3D CAD preparation for simulation optimization and parameterization

•Experience with GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing), and various dimensioning schemes of 2D mechanical prints

•Experience with assembly-level component interaction, and related tolerancing.

•Manufacturing knowledge and/or experience with stamping, forming, molding, and assembly

•Familiarity with interconnect products

•Familiarity with simulation (mechanical and/or electrical) tools, preferably ANSYS

•Strong Microsoft Office Excel, Word, and PowerPoint skills

•Strong interpersonal, teamwork , communication, and organizational skills

•Effective problem-solving skills

•Able to learn quickly and work both independently as well as in an interdisciplinary team environment

•Able to work in a global workplace with excellent English skills. Chinese a plus.
