The Role

Infrastructure Specialists at Kyndryl are project-based subject matter experts in all things infrastructure – good at providing analysis, documenting and diagraming work for hand-off, offering timely solutions, and generally “figuring it out.” This is a hands-on role where your feel for the interaction between a system and its environment will be invaluable to every one of your clients.

Technical Skills

Fully understand z/OS services structure, JES2 concepts, Parallel Sysplex and Catalog management

PARMLIB and JES2 customization/configuration

Practical JCL, REXX and CLIST knowledge

Practical SMP/E knowledge

Practical HCD knowledge

Basic RACF knowledge

Good to have:

NetView/System Automation knowledge

GDPS PPRC knowledge

TWS, Control-M, UC4

Practical HLASM knowledge

Responsibilities:

Provide technical support for customer. Own and action requests for service, implementing changes and resolving assigned problems (may involve some after hours and weekend work).

Provide 24x7 after hours on-call support as required for products supported by the team

Personal compliance and ownership on security, audit and systems integrity posture

Highlight areas for improvement in current processes, and implement improvements

Leadership

Attend and actively participate in weekly review meetings with the team leader and/or manager to discuss issues, concerns, people, ideas and workload

Be a focal point in a technical and client advocate capacity and whenever rotated onto new accounts, ensure other team members are mentored to enable smooth succession of previous account

Assist wider team performing the level 1-3 capability, potentially off-shore or remote locations.

Required Skills

Over 10 years of experience in Mainframe (z/OS)

Candidate must have excellent written and verbal skills

Ability to take the lead in problem solving and coordination of multi-disciplinary groups

Candidate should be self-organized, eager to learn with strong sense of analysis & troubleshooting skills

This is a technical role which also requires strong analytical and problem solving skills. Experience in support and deployment of z/OS Operating System, is desired.

Required Technical and Professional Experience

• Deep expertise within specific technology domain areas (e.g., software development, cloud computing, systems engineering, infrastructure, security, networking, data & analytics) • Enterprise IT application experience • Hands-on experience in at least one of the following: software development, DevOps engineering, systems administration, or systems architecture in public cloud AWS domain • In-depth knowledge of Windows and Linux Operating Systems • Must have experience driving for engineering solutions and working across teams • Extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals • Ability to apply general rules to specific problems to produce conclusions and responses. • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbal and written • Strong process improvement experience

Preferred Technical and Professional Experience

• In depth knowledge of Amazon cloud hosting architecture with experience with AWS and Azure is a bonus • Exceptional judgment and decision-making abilities • Familiar with a variety of IT concepts, practices, and procedures • Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principals involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models • Logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail
