Job Summary

Job Title is “Engineer-Thermal”. This position will be in Cooling Sub Systems in C ompression T echnologies and S ervices. The role will encompass playing a key role in developing technologically enhanced cooling solutions for the compressors as an effort to make the compressors efficient, reliable and economical.

Responsibilities:

  1. Develop Air/Water-Cooled cooling module solutions for the oil lubricated and oil free compressors.

  2. Complete ownership on the product development from initiation to validation: The following are the specific expectations.

  3. Execute project planning and risk management.

  4. Perform brainstorming and concept development for cooling module.

  5. Execute component sizing & selection, engineering calculations and simulations at module and system level.

  6. Conduct global design reviews and associated actions.

  7. Execute DFMEA and DVP&R.

  8. Co-ordinate with the Reliability & testing team for validation.

  9. Address the failures & perform RCA and execute mitigation plan.

  10. Inculcate and enhance the standard work in module level development by design guides, design tools etc.

  11. Develop and maintain mathematical tools for cooling module development.

  12. Drive collaboration and alignment with the cross functional teams, suppliers to ensure compatibility of the cooling solution.

  13. Actively participate in new technology initiatives, feasibility analysis and implementation.

  14. Generate more technology assets for the organization through intellectual property.

  15. Robust live documentation at various stage of projects and perform planned internal design reviews.

Qualifications:

  1. Masters in Thermal Engineering (First preference) / Bachelor’s in mechanical engineering with 2+ years of experience.

Key Competencies:

  1. Design knowledge on Heat exchangers (Plate and Bar, Shell and Tube etc).

  2. Proven track record on design, development & validation of cooling modules and components (Air - Cooled and Water - Cooled Heat Exchangers, Air Movers & Housing) for compressors.

  3. Basic Exposure to screw air compressor package and Testing.

  4. Insight into Wind tunnel testing and Reliability testing of heat exchangers.

  5. Working knowledge of Pressure vessel codes (ASME, PED, CRN, NR-13 etc.)

  6. Knowledge on 1D Thermodynamic system modeling for heat exchangers and related components.

  7. Working knowledge of GD&T standards, ANSI Y14.5 drafting standards, etc.

  8. Working knowledge in various design tools related to DFSS, DFMEA, A-3, DOE, DFM&A, etc. is preferred.

  9. Good written, verbal and presentation skills including the ability to interact at various levels of organization.
