Position Summary:

This position will work within the DPE (Digital Platform Engineering) group to develop and implement various enterprise initiatives and technical projects related to Fisher Scientific and Thermo Fisher Scientific ecommerce web sites. Candidate will work with others on the development team to translate business requirements and technical design into well optimized functioning code using JAVA and related technologies. Candidate will be responsible for implementation, maintenance of web applications and services that interact with Product, Content, Search and E-Commerce systems. Candidate should be able to work effectively in a team to build web applications and services. This position offers an exciting career to work on systems that collaborate with multiple systems including Content Management Systems, Product Information Management System, Middleware and ERPs (Enterprise Resource Planning).

Responsibilities:

  • Develop, test, and maintain web applications using Python and related frameworks like Flask/Django/FastAPI.

  • Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code.

  • Fix and debug applications to ensure optimal performance.

  • Conduct various types of testing, including unit testing and integration testing, to ensure the robustness of the applications.

  • Participate in code reviews to maintain code quality and share knowledge with the team.

  • Optimize application performance, including query optimization and implementing caching strategies.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 8 years of professional experience in Python development.

  • Strong knowledge of web frameworks like Flask/Django/FastAPI.

  • Experience with relational databases such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, or similar.

  • Familiarity with version control systems like Git.

  • Knowledge of software development best practices and design patterns.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently as well as in a team.

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to articulate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

  • Experience with continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines is a plus.
