Robert Half Systems Engineer in Baltimore, Maryland
As a Systems Engineer, you will provide technical direction and clarification of requirements to software development teams & test personnel, perform system engineering analyses including requirements definition and derivation, interface definition, and requirement validation and verification. This role will also support the definition of operations concepts and procedure planning / development, interface with personnel from other organizations, and represent the program at technical interchange meetings.
This individual will interface with their team lead, team members, and other teams on a daily basis, conduct or participate in customer and/or program presentations, and provide task progress status updates and work products to the team lead.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS, DUTIES, AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Perform an initial site survey of any newly acquired location to determine conversion scope
Communicate the conversion plan clearly to Sr. Management
Migrate users, computers, and servers to FencingSupplyGroup.com Active Directory
Convert locations to established IT naming conventions and concepts
Install standardized hardware- wireless, servers, printers, etc.
Understand and apply basic Microsoft IT concepts, DHCP, DNS, IP Addressing, Group Policy, etc.
Convert all networking equipment to new IP Addressing- switches, wireless, firewalls, etc.
Prepare network infrastructure for SDWAN solution
Evaluate need for Analog POTs lines at each location
Provide any end-user training required as part of the changes
Work with third-party to establish Help Desk support and standards
Communicate Help Desk Support to converted users and locations
Participate in resolving end-user issues if needed
Implement already established enterprise security infrastructure, standards, and procedures
Work with other onsite resources or technicians to troubleshoot IT related issues
Research/write proposals for new technologies and upgrades for existing systems
Periodically review appropriateness of technologies used for system components and recommends modifications and/or upgrades when necessary to keep systems operating according to defined service level agreements and operating level agreements
Participate in Business Continuity Planning
Provides advice concerning IT issues and trends in the IT industry
Provide excellent customer service
Systems Engineer (Windows) – Responsibilities:
Windows Server Support
Backup and Disaster Recovery (BDR)
Security Monitoring, Assessment and Remediation.
Operating System installations & configuration
Cloud and virtualization using Hyper-V, VMWare, and other technologies.
Firewall, Router, Switch installation and configuration
Office 365 administration/migration
Systems Engineer (Windows) – Requirements:
1+ years experience working for a Managed or Cloud Service Provider
Experience with ConnectWise or Kaseya a major plus!
Ability to work on multiple priorities and/or projects simultaneously
Advanced knowledge of all Microsoft Workstation Operating Systems and Applications
Intermediate to Advanced knowledge in; servers, routers/switches/firewalls.
