We are hiring a Staff Accountant for our corporate team. The Staff Accountant has responsibility for general ledger entries, account analysis, reconciliation and reporting, all while maintaining an environment of strong accounting controls.

The Staff Accountant will understand who their customers are and what their customers’ expectations are to ensure a strong customer satisfaction focus both internally and externally in providing accurate and timely reporting.

How you will make an impact:

  • Participate in the monthly close process for corporate, landowners, communities and other entities, as applicable, to ensure the monthly financial statements and other reporting deliverables, are completed on schedule and all required adjustments and journal entries for assigned entities are posted accurately, to include:

  • Performing assigned duties and responsibilities to ensure the close schedule is met

  • Preparing journal entries, ensuring accuracy and completeness, for assigned entities

  • Reviewing and posting journal entries prepared by community finance teams or peer team members for completeness and accuracy

  • Preparing assigned workpapers and reconciliations

  • Reviewing internal financial statements, including variance analyses, and ensuring assigned review comments are researched and resolved timely

  • Support monthly cash accounting activity, as applicable to assigned entities, including preparation of construction draws, wires, receipts and bank reconciliation for multiple accounts at corporate and/or communities.

  • Support annual corporate forecast and budget processes, as applicable to assigned entities, and provide support as needed for community budget processes.

What you will need:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting / Finance or related field required. Additional experience will be considered in lieu of education.

  • CPA/ MBA a plus.

  • 2+ years of work experience in corporate accounting or related position / similar industry. Education and related experience will be considered in lieu of work experience.

  • Previous experience with real estate development is preferred.

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook) required. Experience with Microsoft Dynamics AX or other general ledger system is a plus.
