Description
If you're an experienced accountant with a knack for accuracy, there's currently an opening through Robert Half for Staff Accountant at a growing firm. This company is located in the Baltimore, Maryland region and is offering a dynamic, multi-faceted long-term contract / temporary opportunity where effort is rewarded. The duties of Staff Accountant include fixed asset maintenance, bank reconciliation, general ledger reconciliation, journal entries, and the preparation of monthly and year-end closings. A very involved position, this role produces Financial Statements, Cash Flow projections, and Budgets. During the monthly close, you will be responsible for many aspects of internal reporting. You'll also review schedules for the reporting processes, stay in touch with our external auditors for quarterly reviews and annual audits, and play an active role in compliance.
Your responsibilities in this role
Participate in the month end, quarter end and year end closing process including monthly financial close workbook preparation
Ready complex journal entries and account reconciliations including but not limited to cash, prepaid expenses and payroll
Maintain capital lease and monthly payment schedules
Prepare monthly balance sheet and income statement analyses for management reporting
Execute month end close, journal entries, with little supervision
Ad-hoc reporting and special projects, as requested
Offer descriptions of a large number of financial data and communicate insights in a useful and understandable manner
Maintain fixed asset ledger, depreciation, and reconciliation
Aid in implementation, maintenance and adherence to internal controls and accounting procedures ensuring compliance with GAAP
Participate in various initiatives spanning multiple departments
Requirements
BA/BS or equivalent in Accounting, Finance or Economics
Spreadsheet and database capabilities
Ability to complete multiple tasks and projects within deadlines
Attention to detail and ability to follow standard procedures is a requirement
Skilled with ERP systems
Working knowledge of spreadsheets and databases
Comfortable working in a changing and dynamic environment
3+ years of recent and relevant accounting experience
The ideal candidate will be highly-skilled with exceptional analytical, quantitative and social skills
Strong organizational, written and verbal communication skills
Self-starter and strong ethical standards
Proficiency in account reconciliations
Payroll experience highly desired
General familiarity with Microsoft Excel
Foundational knowledge in accruals
Invoice approving experience
Practical knowledge of month end closings
Demonstrated knowledge of Journal Entry Preparation
Adeptness in Journal Entries
Solid understanding of Supplier Invoices
