Johns Hopkins University Research Technologist in Baltimore, Maryland

We are seeking a R esearch Technologist who will work with a team that includes other technicians, graduate students, and postdoctoral fellows to help in the analysis of oligodendrocyte dynamics and remyelination in the mouse CNS using microscopy and computational analyses.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities

  • Assist in research to elucidate the molecular stratification of different classes of neurons in the CNS.

  • Extract and perform chemical clearing of brain tissue from transgenic mice.

  • Conduct light sheet imaging of cleared brains.

  • Quantify the density and morphology of oligodendrocytes.

  • Prepare, test, and maintain standard laboratory equipment.

  • Perform miscellaneous related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Biology, Chemistry or related field.

  • Some related post-undergraduate work experience preferred.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with basic lab methods, such as making chemical solutions, histological techniques and molecular techniques.

  • Experience with fluorescence microscopy.

  • Experience with machine learning and assembly of serial datasets.

Starting Salary Range: $15.50 - $26.00 HRLY ($40,000 targeted; Commensurate with experience)
