University of Maryland Baltimore School of Dentistry Department of Neural and Pain Sciences * *Postdoctoral Fellow The Department of Neural and Pain Sciences (https://www.dental.umaryland.edu/neuralpain/) at the University of Maryland School of Dentistry in Baltimore is recruiting for a postdoctoral fellow position. Job Description: The candidate will be involved in investigating brain circuits that are responsible for sex- and age-related differences in endogenous pain modulation in the context of musculoskeletal pain conditions. The candidate will conduct experiments involving chemogenetic activation/ inhibition of brain regions, immunohistochemical validation of viral transfection, and various behavioral assays in young and old rats. The candidate will devote 100% of their effort to this project. Qualifications: Candidates must have a PhD in neuroscience or a related discipline. Background in pain literature and experience in behavioral nociceptive measurements in rodents are desired. Experiences in chemogenetic and optogenetics would be a strong advantage.
