The Baltimore Office of an AmLaw 100 law firm is seeking qualified applicants for a Medical Malpractice Paralegal with 5+ years of experience.

The ideal candidate will have insurance defense experience handling case from inception to end; the ability to perform and execute service of process; experience with trial preparation and trials; strong communication and writing skills; the ability to collaborate effectively with clients, attorneys, and staff; the ability to self-manage and meet deadlines; and the ability to work overtime when needed.

Mid-size to large law firm experience a plus.

Education: BA/BS required. Paralegal certificate or commensurate experience.

  • Organize, evaluate and summarize medical records.

  • Prepare, submit and follow up on HIPAA and other record authorizations.

  • Perform legal research and investigative tasks, including obtaining information or documents from outside parties.

  • Prepare medical summaries and timelines.

  • Draft and respond to discovery demands.

  • Track and manage discovery, including document productions.

  • Participate in case strategy meetings.

  • Handle routine calls and correspondence to courts, outside attorneys, and clients.

Preferred Skills and Experience:

  • Retrieve and search for electronic documents from a variety of court and agency web sites.

  • Demonstrated technology and analytical abilities.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).

  • Strong sense of accountability, taking ownership over projects and responsibilities and resolving issues proactively.

  • High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and organizational skills.

  • Ability to assess information, anticipate issues and outcomes, and make effective decisions.

  • Ability to manage multiple requests, assess priorities, and achieve solutions under deadlines.

  • Knowledge of medical terminology.

  • Excellent teamwork skills and a strong client service orientation.
