The Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology in the University of Maryland School of Medicine is recruiting for a Contractual Laboratory Research Assistant. The Laboratory Research Assistant is mainly responsible for performing cancer research activities and other work-related duties in a laboratory setting under the instructions. Essential Functions: * Perform cancer research activities and share routine laboratory maintenance such as: Western blot assays, cell viability assay, and other assays, preparing solutions and buffers, human and mouse cell cultures, transfection of human/mouse cells, assist a senior researcher in the lab with mouse studies, general housekeeping, and ordering reagents. * Perform other related duties as assigned. Qualifications: * *Education: Bachelor of Science degree in biology, life science, or biomedicine is required. Preferred Education: Bachelor or Master of Science degree in molecular biology, biomedicine, cancer biology, or cell biology. Preferred Experience: Research experience with western blot assay and human/mouse cell culture are required. Research experience with cell viability assay, cell migration assay, cancer biology, and mouse study are considered a strength. HIRING RANGE: Commensurate with education and research experience.
