What You Can Expect

Lab position that includes quality assurance responsibilities in addition to working on the bench performing clinical laboratory testing, in the Division’s CLIA (clinical laboratory improvement amendments) laboratory. Serves as the primary resource for the development and maintenance of the laboratory quality assurance program.

How You'll Create Impact

• Acts as primary contact for proficiency testing, identifies problems and implements corrective action

• Monitors and advises on the performance of the quality management system, and produces data and report on performance, measuring against set indicators

• Organizes, attends, and facilitates monthly laboratory quality meeting

• Conducts periodic internal audit of the laboratory

• Perform and document all required instrument maintenance and calibrations as needed

• Perform and document all required quality control. Assure that testing is not performed until acceptable results are obtained

• Assist with training and supervision of new employees and lab assistants in all technical areas

• Participate in and document annual continuing education

• Perform all testing according to SOPM

• Actively participate in new method validation procedures

• Review and release all test results. Review questionable results with the laboratory manager

• Execute all immunodiagnostics experiments designed by R&D

• Provide technical information about test results to physicians

• Participate in individual or group projects or on designated committees when requested to do so by the Technical Supervisor or Lab Manager

• Continually seek ways to improve efficiency and reduce operating costs

Your Background

• Associate’s degree in Medical Technology or related field required.

• 5+ years related experience, including responsibility for quality assurance in a clinical laboratory

• ASCP (American Society for Clinical Pathology) or equivalent certification required

• Basic understanding of the IT and EMR (electronic medical record?) industry required
