Maryland Treatment Centers, Inc. Family Peer Recovery Coach- Research in Baltimore, Maryland

Maryland Treatment Centers – Baltimore MD Mountain Manor Treatment Center (MMTC) in Baltimore, MD is seeking a part time family peer recovery coach. We are in West Baltimore at 3800 Frederick Avenue; however the position can be primarily remote. The ideal applicant has lived experience as a parent or other concerned significant other of a young person with an opioid problem. The peer recovery coach will work closely with a therapist, other clinical staff, and members of the research team to explore how family peer recovery coaches can best help young people with opioid addiction. Experience working as a family peer or familiarity with peer recovery coaching is preferred, but not required. Training will be provided. MMTC is part of Maryland Treatment Centers (MTC), an established regional behavioral health provider focused on clinical excellence, innovation, and scholarship. We are a complex center offering a full continuum of levels of care for the treatment of addictions and co-occurring disorders. In addition to Mountain Manor’s primary clinical operations, we have an enthusiastic research team and a 20-year legacy of conducting clinical research on addictions and co-occurring disorders. Collaborators have included investigators from Friends Research Institute, Johns Hopkins University, University of Maryland Baltimore, University of Maryland Baltimore County, University of Pennsylvania, Columbia University, and Dartmouth College. We have also conducted trials with partners at the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) through the Clinical Trials Network (CTN). Responsibilities would include: • Providing supportive engagement and coaching to families who have a loved one with addiction • Co-facilitating a weekly virtual support group with a therapist. • Attending regular meetings to discuss recoverees • Training and supervision meetings • Individual supportive coaching to families who have a loved one with addiction Qualifications: • High school degree/ GED required • Experience working as a family peer preferred • Demonstrated competence in oral and written communication • Computer skills/abilities including Zoom, typing, electronic health records, and email • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and interpersonal skills
