Johns Hopkins University CFAR Africure Program Coordinator in Baltimore, Maryland

The Department of International Health is seeking a casual CFAR Africure Program Coordinator for the CFAR Africure program.

The CFAR Africure program recruits, mentors, and supports early- and mid-career African investigators to address Africa-specific biologic, therapeutic, and implementation issues in HIV cure research. The Africure Program operates under the Johns Hopkins University Center for AIDS Research (JHU CFAR) and is coordinated through the Inter-CFAR Sub-Saharan Africa Working Group. The AFRICURE program addresses the critical need for inclusivity and diversity in HIV cure research by fostering a new generation of African HIV cure investigators.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities

  • Assist with center programming and logistics, e.g., in-person and virtual event planning and execution, inviting guests, preparing proposals, liaising with partners, etc.

  • Manage program calendar; track correspondences; arrange travel; reimbursements; setting up administrative protocols.

  • Assist with presentations, e.g., writing background briefs, drafting presentations, taking notes.

  • Assist with publicity, e.g., managing website and social media presence.

  • Assist with other administrative tasks.

  • This is a hybrid remote position. Though it is expected that the position can be mostly remote, there may be times when the applicant will be expected to attend planning meetings in-person. The applicant must also be willing and able to travel internationally for in-person meetings.

Special Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Highly organized, reliable, responsive, and versatile with an interest in HIV research and mentorship.

  • Ability to correspond clearly and professionally.

  • Willingness to perform a mixture of administrative and programming tasks as needed, including (1) assisting with administrative needs, (2) providing publicity support, and (3) supporting logistics and programming for the CFAR Africure Program.

  • Experience assisting faculty with research or programmatic projects.

  • Experience with JHU administration and internal workflows.

  • Special Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Experience working in Africa.

  • Fluency in other languages is a plus.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or graduation equivalent.

  • Five years progressively responsible related experience.

  • Additional education may substitute for required experience, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.
