Mobile Communications America Advanced Central Office Technician in Baltimore, Maryland

MCA, your trusted advisor for wireless communications, data, and security, is seeking an experienced Advanced Central Office Technician in the Timonium, Maryland area to support our fast-growing Data-WSP division.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING:

  • Leading a crew of technicians during projects.

  • Demonstrating proficiency and quality during the installation of project-specific components and equipment that is consistent with manufacturer and company standards.

  • Performing installation and maintenance of equipment installations, Central Office equipment and Wireless Carrier Radio Equipment.

  • Physically placing, removing, and/or modifying working and non-working equipment including but not limited to:

  • Cable trays and/or racking.

  • Data equipment cabinets and frames, data servers, switches, routers, repeaters, bridges, gateways, multiplexers, transceivers, and firewalls.

  • BDFBs and fuse panels.

  • Power Equipment – All primary power work including power frame, equipment (includes Power Plants, Converter Plants, Ring Plants, Inverter Plants, Battery Plants, Engine Generator Plants, BDFBs), installation and connection to all primary equipment and frames

  • Routing cables that supply AC and/or DC power or transmit data in various technical spaces.

  • Performing advanced tests and turn-up as well as other integration activities.

  • Resolving equipment and technical issues as they arise.

  • Performing quality validation on in-process and completed work.

  • Demonstrating the ability to use basic hand and power tools.

  • Demonstrating the ability to work professionally at all job sites.

  • Maintaining a safe and clean work area with orderly tools.

  • Assisting in the completion of all required paperwork and documentation.

  • Maintaining customer confidence by performing outstanding work.

  • Performing other duties as requested.

WHAT YOU WILL BRING TO THE TEAM:

  • A minimum of three (3) years of Central Office equipment installation experience is required.

  • Clear understanding of AT&T, Telcordia, and/or Verizon Quality Standards.

  • Hands-on experience with transport equipment (Ciena, Fujitsu, Cisco, Adtran, Nokia, etc.)

  • Ability to work flexible shifts and to adapt to changing work schedules.

  • Lead technical background.

  • Must be able to interact and communicate professionally.

  • Proven track record of reliability, integrity, and responsibility.

YOUR ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

The physical environment requires the employee to work inside and outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to frequently stand, walk, sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; talk or hear; utilize personal protective equipment to prevent exposure to potentially hazardous materials, lift (overhead, waist level) from the floor, bending, frequently utilize near vision use for reading and computer use; be able to handle semi-frequent stressful conditions (cardiovascular), frequently work in outdoor weather conditions, frequently move equipment weighing up to 50 pounds, occasionally ascend/descend a ladder, operate a motor vehicle, frequently position self to maintain computers or other equipment as needed.

On-call for critical systems, maintenance may be required. First shift hours Monday – Friday, with occasional 2nd or 3rd shift and weekends depending on project schedules.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:

Travel as necessary to support company and customer needs.
