Northern Metal Fab, Inc. Sales Engineer III Estimator in Baldwin, Wisconsin

Job purpose

Analyze blueprints, specifications and proposals to prepare time, material and services estimates. Work with customers to secure orders and development of new customers.

Duties and responsibilities

· Work safely, following all procedures, utilize proper safety equipment, and incorporates safety in all project planning and quotes

· Reviews data to develop detailed material and labor costs and lead times

· Completes cost factors and prepares estimates

· Works with customers for development of new business and ongoing business

· Works with Sales, Engineering, Purchasing and Production to help resolve any specialized manufacturing techniques involved

· Prepares itemized lists of materials required

· Works with vendors and customers to help resolve any issues that may arise

· Prepares list and cost on any specialized costs that may arise, tooling, fixturing, etc.

· Calls on customers when necessary to support present customers and to develop new customers

Performance Standards

· Timeliness of delivery of quotes

· Accuracy of quotes

· Ability to work with customers

· Other standards as determined by the President

Qualifications

· Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent experience

· 4 years or more of sales experience, preferably in a metal fab shop

· High degree of computer skills

Working conditions

While performing the duties of this position, the employee can expect to spend most of their time indoors in moderate temperatures. If the employee will be working on the shop floor, they will be required to wear steel toed shoes, safety glasses, and hearing protection. On the shop floor they may be exposed to weld smoke, paint fumes, and occasional moderate to high levels of noise. This position generally works the office shift, with core hours of 8am to 4pm and an average of 40 hours per week, with occasional overtime as needed. Schedules may be temporarily altered based on projects and business needs. In addition, this position occasionally has travel requirements to meet with customers.

Tools Required:

1 – Pair of Steel Toed Safety Shoes (Must be worn on shop floor)

1 – Pair of Safety Glasses with side shields (Northern can provide non-prescription safety glasses)

Physical requirements

The physical demands represent those to be met in a general office environment. In an 8-hour shift, an employee can expect to be stationary approximately 5-6 hours and moving around approximately 2-3 hours. May need to occasionally lift and carry up to 5 pounds with reasonable accommodations.
