Summary

The F-16 Engine Lead oversees all maintenance, inspection, repair, and operational readiness of F-16 aircraft engines. This leadership role involves coordinating and supervising engine technicians, ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards, and driving continuous improvement in engine performance and reliability. The F-16 Engine Lead is responsible for managing resources, developing technician skills, and maintaining a high level of operational efficiency within the Maintenance, Repair & Overhaul (MRO) facility.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Oversee disassembly, inspection, maintenance, and reassembly of F-16 engines, including troubleshooting and repair to ensure maximum operational readiness.

  • Plan, schedule, and supervise periodic and unscheduled inspections, ensuring compliance with military and regulatory standards.

  • Provide expert troubleshooting and diagnostic support for complex engine issues, guiding the team in identifying root causes and implementing effective solutions.

  • Ensure all maintenance practices meet quality and safety standards, including adherence to technical orders, regulatory guidelines, and company policies.

  • Oversee and allocate personnel, tools, and materials to support engine maintenance activities, resolving any logistical or resource-related challenges to maintain a smooth workflow.

  • Track engine performance metrics, identify trends, and generate reports on maintenance activities, resource utilization, and team performance.Mentor and train engine technicians, fostering a strong team culture focused on skill development, efficiency, and safety.

  • Work closely with other departments to align on production schedules, optimize workflows, and address any inter-departmental issues affecting engine maintenance and performance.

  • All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a US Secret security clearance.

  • In order to obtain a secret clearance, qualified candidates must have US Citizenship.

  • Ability to pass physical screening requirements

Education and/or Experience

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent required.

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in F-16 or equivalent fighter aircraft engine maintenance and repair.

  • Prior experience in a supervisory or lead role is preferred.

  • Demonstrated expertise in engine diagnostics, troubleshooting, and complex repairs.

  • USAFE 7 – Level skill

Work Conditions

Position is located OCONUS and in an austere environment; work is being performed on the flight line, limited hangar or aviation field environment.

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to lift and parts, tooling and other awkward items sometimes weighing greater than 50 lbs, including up and down stairs.

  • Requires intermittent standing, walking, sitting, squatting, stretching, and bending throughout the workday.

  • Must be able to see and hear, or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately to assure that the requirements of this position can be fully met.
