Job Information

Amentum Airfield Sweeper in Baghdad, Iraq

This position is contingent upon Customer approval, funding, and position availability.

The Airfield Sweeper will be based at the Baghdad Diplomatic Support Center in Iraq and serve the Baghdad Life Support Services (BLiSS) contract in support of the U.S. Department of State. This position will be responsible for maintaining a Foreign Object Debris Program and will report to the Aircraft Marshaller/Transient Alert Supervisor. The duties and responsibilities listed below are representative of the nature and level of work assigned and are not necessarily all inclusive.

DUTIES:

  • Responsible for maintaining a safe workplace and ensuring that safety is the highest priority in the workplace.

  • Comply with all Environmental Health & Safety and Quality Assurance requirements and goals. Provide information and materials to these divisions as necessary to ensure adequate and legal documentation.

  • Conduct periodic FOD checks and sweeping of the BDSC Ramp and associated taxiway pavements.

  • Engage in two-way radio communications with International Air Traffic Controllers IAW ICAO phraseology requirements.

  • Clean other pavement areas around the flight line facilities as required.

  • Utilize hand tools and equipment as required to remove debris.

  • Monitor and empty FOD containers located around the flight line.

  • Perform and document daily inspections of sweeper equipment.

  • Ensure that any equipment discrepancies, damage, and malfunctions are immediately documented and reported to the supervisor and to the Airfield GSE Maintenance office.

  • Assist with escort or monitoring of airfield workers as required.

  • Document and maintain appropriate logs and Situation Reports.

  • Responsible for keeping sweeper equipment clean and dumping collected debris and water in designated areas.

  • Conduct self-assessments of sweeper operations.

  • Perform additional duties and projects as assigned.

  • Be available for after-hours cleaning if situation warrants.

REQUIRED:

  • Minimum Acceptable Experience Level: Experience with sweeper operations on an airfield.

  • Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Ability to work in a fast-paced environment that requires handling multiple tasks at a given time and rapidly adapting to changing priorities and schedules.

  • Education: A high school diploma or GED equivalent.

  • Passport, Licenses and Certifications:

  • As part of pre-contingency requirements, by the time the visa process starts , candidates must possess a valid passport with a minimum of 18 months remaining to expiration date with 8 blank pages.

  • Valid heavy truck drivers’ license.

  • Must possess a valid Home of Record issued driver’s license and be able to pass color blindness test to obtain Flight Line Driver’s License.

  • Security Vetting: Must be able to obtain a favorable MRPT prior to being hired. Must maintain eligibility for the duration of the contract.

  • Language Skills: Working knowledge of English Level III (reading/speaking) to meet job requirements and to adhere and comply with safety, health, and security measures. Requires experience communicating with air traffic towers.

  • Medical: Successfully complete and pass the medical and examinations as required by Amentum and our customer for deployment to Iraq. Must maintain physical and drug requirements for duration of deployment.

DESIRED:

  • Previous out of home country experience and previous work experience in harsh environmental conditions are a plus.

  • Experience working with Amentum.

OTHER KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of principles and processes involved in supporting contract responsibilities at an overseas facility.

  • Experience providing excellent customer services.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment that requires handling multiple tasks at a given time and rapidly adapting to changing priorities and schedules.

  • Cross-cultural sensitivity with an international perspective.

  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.

  • Computer skills, specifically in Microsoft Word and Excel.

  • Ability to become an active and functioning member of a team.

  • Ability to be innovative and be an agent for change.

  • Expert communication skills to facilitate and disseminate information.
