SOS International LLC Landscaping Manager (OCONUS) in Baghdad, Iraq, Iraq

Overview

This position is contingent upon a contract award

SOSi is seeking a Grounds and Landscaping Manager to support a large Base Operations Support (BOS) program providing operations & maintenance (O&M) support services to our U.S. government customer in Iraq. The Landscaping/Grounds Keeping Supervisor will be responsible for maintaining safe and attractive landscaping for the site. The duties and responsibilities listed are representative of the nature and level of work assigned and are not necessarily all inclusive.

Essential Job Duties

  • Responsible for maintaining a safe workplace and ensuring safety is the highest priority inthe workplace.

  • Comply with all Environmental & Safety and Quality Assurance requirements and goals. Provide information and materials to these divisions as necessary to ensure adequate and legal documentation.

  • Design, layout and install beds, plants, hardscape and structures with consideration forwater conservation and cost control.

  • Work with other personnel in planning for construction of new buildings or other structuresand modifications to existing structures to ensure minimal damage is done to existinglandscaping.

  • Knowledgeable of local plants available, materials (e.g., mulch, chemicals, rocks, organicfertilizers and soil amendments) and outdoor equipment and furniture available withincountry to minimize importation and transportation costs.

  • Supervise a large team on multiple projects consisting of direct hires and subcontractors.

  • Safe operation of landscaping equipment.

  • Perform additional duties and projects as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

  • Active in Scope Secret security clearance.

  • A degree from an accredited school in either Landscape Management, Horticulture, Landscape Architecture or similar field. Equivalent years' experience may be substituted for a degree.

  • Ten (10) years' experience in landscaping/groundskeeping of large residential, commercial, recreational, or government properties.

  • Five (5) years' experience in managing subordinates, subcontractors, and vendors in the field.

  • Experience in scheduling a workforce.

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoS Moderate Risk Public Trust (MRPT).

  • Valid driver's license from home of record.

  • Experience providing excellent customer service.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment that requires handling multiple tasks at a given time and rapidly adapting to changing priorities and schedules.

  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.

  • Computer skills, specifically in Microsoft Word and Excel.

  • Ability to become an active and functioning member of a team.

  • Ability to be innovative and be an agent for change.

  • Expert communication skills to facilitate and disseminate information.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous international experience (2 years or more) in a desert climate.

  • Cross-cultural sensitivity with an international perspective.

  • Knowledge of principles and processes involved in supporting contract responsibilities atan overseas facility.

  • Fluency in a foreign language is desired, but not required.

Work Environment

  • Willingness to live and work under environmental and other conditions that may be uncomfortable or hazardous at times.

  • Personnel should be aware of moving on short notice and under adverse conditions.

  • Requires periods of non-traditional working hours including consecutive nights or weekends when necessary.

  • Fast paced, deadline-oriented environment.
