Actalent Transmission Line Engineer in Austin, Texas

Actalent is seeking an experienced Transmission Line Engineer to perform engineering design and create work requests for transmission construction projects. The Engineer provides engineering, estimating, programming, and mapping input for the work order producing process of the Transmission Section.

Responsibilities:

  • Engineer and design transmission lines that are safe, economical, and adhere to accepted engineering practice and standards

  • Using PLS-CADD and AutoCAD prepare and issue all associated design drawings, specifications, and bills of material in a professional and thorough design package

  • Provide project management for assigned projects including scheduling, cost estimating, coordination and quality control

  • Communicate and coordinate with internal and external departments to achieve resolution of project activities

  • Issue all project deliverables in a timely manner to support administrative, procurement, and construction activities

  • Perform other duties as required

  • Provide support, advice, and training to design and support staff as required to assist in the proper discharge of their duties

Preferred Skills:

  • PLS-CADD

  • STAAD

  • Risa 3D

  • LPILE

  • AutoCAD

Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience in Transmission Line Engineering

  • The ability to calculate forces acting on structures and equipment, resolve geometric and trigonometric problems to calculate geographical position and direction of forces

  • Must be able to work independently on complex assignments involving a wide variety of situations requiring sound judgment

  • Requires familiarity with computer-based tools MSOffice, GIS, PLS-CADD, PLS-Pole, and AutoCAD to efficiently complete day-to-day assignments

  • Requires accessing energized substations for inspection purposes after being training
