YOUR FUTURE TEAM As part of TCEQs Office of Air, you would contribute to protecting and restoring Texas air quality. This position is a member of our Air Permits Division. See details about what we do. KEY QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor's degree, with a major in engineering from an ABET accredited college or university. HERES WHAT YOULL BE DOING... Review highly advanced state and federal (operating and new source) air permit applications, registrations, and certifications (i.e., projects) as necessary, defining all sources of contaminants and appropriate federal and state requirements, including rule interpretations, emission calculations, determination of federal applicability, permit shield issues, and stringency determinations; and involving economic development projects, and projects with high public interest, or utilization of developing pollution control technologies. Serve as a mentor for other permit reviewers on various projects; serves as a project manager. Communicate with applicants, agency staff, other state/federal agencies, elected officials, stakeholders, and the general public concerning inquiries pertaining to the applicability of federal and state requirements for the permitting process and the technical completeness of projects. Drafts and edit permit contents and prepare final packages, including comprehensive technical review and preliminary determination summaries for projects with federal applicability. Prepare and issue public notice authorizations, certifies proper notice, attends formal and informal public meetings and mediations, responds to public comments as required, and participate as an expert witness in contested-case public hearings or meetings regarding permit applications and permit by rule registrations. Prepare policy and guidance materials, including the development and maintenance of technical guidance packages and policy memos, assistance in streamlining activities, development of federal policy/guidance documents, conducting technical training activities, facilitation of meetings, and representation of the division and agency at meetings, training sessions, presentations, etc. Qualifications: EDUCATION EXPERIENCE Texas Professional Engineer's license plus five years of full-time engineering experience beyond licensure. Qualifying work experience includes that obtained post licensure as an engineering graduate student or teacher. OR Career ladder progression One year of full-time experience at TCEQ as an Engineer V.
