Description

Amazon World Wide Grocery Data Tech(WWGDT) is seeking an experienced and proven Software Development Engineer (SDE) to lead medium to large cross-functional strategic initiatives that support WWGDT strategic goals. This is a unique opportunity for someone inspired by WWGDT core values and is interested in Amazon’s high-growth grocery business to bring their whole self to the role.

Key job responsibilities

As an SDE, you are responsible for setting a high bar throughout the software development and deployment lifecycle, including design, development, documentation, testing, and operations.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in software and application development, data warehousing and interest in linking data to key business trends, business judgment, intense curiosity, and superior written and verbal communication skills. He/she will work closely with the business and technical teams to analyze many non-standard and unique business problems and use creative problem solving to deliver results.

He/she will be a self-starter, comfortable with ambiguity, able to think big and be creative while paying careful attention to detail and will enjoy working in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.

A day in the life

Work with your leadership to define and execute the data engineering strategy for WWGDT.

Leverage SQL and coding skills (e.g., .Net, Python, Java, etc.) to extract, transform, and load data.

Collaborate with internal and external teams to scope, design, build, and support data pipelines focusing on performance, cost, operational excellence, continuous improvement as well as delivering business value.

Work within multiple technology stacks including working within custom built proprietary AWS framework to deliver data solutions

Participate and lead standups and design sessions, maintain Jira health, and create artifacts

This team will solve challenging and novel problems every day and have the opportunity to redefine the grocery industry while collaborating with multiple teams across WWGDT and WholeFoods Market(WFM). We are open to hiring candidates to work out of one of the following locations:

Basic Qualifications

  • Experience programming with at least one software programming language

  • 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience

  • 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

  • Strong debugging/trouble-shooting skills of embedded systems

  • Experience with real time debugging tools (software)

  • Experience with Windows server 2012- Experience with Microsoft BI technologies, e.g. SQL Server, SSIS, SSRS.

  • Experience with AWS services (Redshift, S3, EC2, Lambda, SNS/SQS, RDS, Aurora) preferred.
