The ASE Security team is seeking an experienced Security Engineering Program Manager to drive the development and hardening of the services and infrastructure that power Apple’s internal and external products. You will work with and influence colleagues across Apple to implement new features and ensure security continues to be at the forefront of our software and development processes. You will join a team of engineering-focused program managers committed to and passionate about driving forward our security, privacy and compliance technologies. As our work is integral through the entire software stack, you will have the opportunity to work with a wide variety of engineering teams. As a Security Engineering Program Manager in ASE, you work with engineers, system reliability engineers, marketing, legal, and leadership to launch and operate features that surprise and delight our end-users and developers. This is not a task-based job; we are accountable for delivering secure and performant systems. Partnering with program and engineering leaders and teams, you will influence and drive every aspect of software and hardware development and deployment including definition, design, integration, build, qualification, and release processes; identify release blockers and manage the implementation and deployment of remediations to development, QA, and production environments both on prem and in public cloud infrastructure globally. YOU WILL: Plan: Create and manage project schedules with clear dependencies, critical path and systematic methodology to communicate status. Manage risks and mitigations, and re-plan as events warrant. Drive alignment across the organization and between teams. Manage dependencies and prioritization discussions to ensure the correct tradeoffs between security, performance, and usability. Execute: Drive on time delivery and deployment, identifying development and feasibility needs, establishing achievements for checkpoints and status updates. Demand excellence in the services and infrastructure that drives Apple and ensure compliance with internal and external security and privacy guarantees and requirements for a company that holds some of the world’s most sensitive and personal data. Problem solve: Proactively identify issues and solutions, marshal resources necessary to address and resolve. Coordinate with teams to identify, prioritize, and track risks to schedule and product quality, including cross-functional dependencies. Rely on your security engineering and program management background to have strong opinions - and then defend and debate them within the program management and engineering organizations that you work. Working to ensure that we uphold our high standards for security and privacy. Facilitate: Lead discussions and break down complex issues into discussion topics to drive engineering and security alignment with support from the security and leadership team while maintaining an orientation toward teamwork and collaboration. Communicate: Provide clear, timely and objective communication, including regular program status updates and critical issues as needed to partners, including the executive team. Create and deliver clear and crisp presentations and other documentation to highlight risks and the work being done to mitigate or remediate them. Coordinate: Partner with SRE, Engineering, Finance, and Legal teams as well as external auditors and regulators where and when required on remediation of security and privacy issues as well the development and deployment of tooling and services to help facilitate security and private services. Improve: Identify areas across our software and infrastructure orgs where we can improve our security and privacy posture, create proposals to address those areas, and then use the skills detailed above to execute on those proposals and make meaningful improvements to Apple.

Key Qualifications

  • Strong security engineering interest and capabilities

  • Previous engineering job-experience is preferred

  • Previous engineering or Technical Program management experience

  • Self-motivated and proactive with demonstrated creative and critical thinking capabilities

  • Able to identify risks and then drive the execution across multiple teams to remediate them

  • Able to focus and simplify, balancing the details with the high-level goals to make correct prioritization decisions and trade-offs

  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills

  • Ability to filter and distill relevant information for the right audience

  • Proven ability to work effectively with and influence multiple stakeholders across a highly-matrixed, multi-functional organization

  • Past experience in defining multi-functional processes and completing them successfully

Education & Experience

Bachelor's/Master's Degree or equivalent work experience in project management or security engineering
