Management of mouse colonies and genotyping (mice).Independently conduct experiments; maintain detailed records of experiments and outcomes. Experiments include: performing preparation of primary cultures of neurons and glia from rodents (rats and mice); performing tissue collection from rodents, cryosectioning, performing RNAscope or immunohistochemistry; performing confocal analysis of tissues, image analysis, and quantification of the results; performing live cell imaging (calcium or voltage imaging); performing tissue collection and cell preparation for single-cell RNAseq experiments and data analysis.Assist with writing and submitting animal surgery, post-operational care, behavioral experiment protocols, biosafety protocols, and standard operating procedures for chemicals and biohazards.Help ordering supplies and chemicals for experiments, ensuring timely arrival and organization of supplies. Prepare stock and working solutions for lab reagents and tissue culture supplies. Help to maintain extreme organization and tidiness in the lab.Help train undergraduate and graduate students in the lab.
