Maintain animal colonies associated with experiments in the lab. Responsibilities include maintaining breeding pairs, ear tagging pups, and sending tissue samples out for genotyping. Keeping accurate breeding logs and records of all animals used in experiments.Perform behavioral experiments in mouse models. Includes assays to measure food and drug reward and self-administration as well as locomotor assays. Also includes performing associated data analysis, writing of results, and creation of figures.Perform surgical procedures in mouse, such as stereotaxic viral injections or cannula implantation.Perform various histological and wet lab tasks, such as making solutions, dissecting and sectioning brains, and analyzing brain sections or homogenates for basic histology and with immunohistochemistry, Western blot, RNA scope or quantitative PCR.
