Meta Lead Counsel, Product (Youth) in Austin, Texas

Summary:

Meta is looking for a dynamic and passionate attorney who is enthusiastic about technology and its potential for positive impact in peoples’ lives to join Meta’s product counseling legal team. You will be supporting the product teams that are working on some of our most significant cross-Meta services and technologies for our youth users. You must have flexibility, the ability to collaborate effectively, and help drive decision making across multiple teams within the legal department, as well as across product, engineering, marketing, policy, communications, and other teams. This is a great opportunity to join a growing legal team and to work on novel issues in a fast-paced, energetic environment.

Required Skills:

Lead Counsel, Product (Youth) Responsibilities:

  1. Support our youth well-being product and engineering teams, delivering practical legal risk mitigation strategies in an important space

  2. Provide holistic legal advice across many subject areas including data protection/privacy, content regulation, competition, consumer protection, data security and other global legal frameworks

  3. Coordinate with policy, public affairs, product management, product marketing, privacy, and other cross-functional teams on external communications, policy development, product development, and product launches

  4. Lead consensus building and drive coordination with other members of the Legal team

  5. Maintain subject matter expertise in youth laws and regulations

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. J.D. degree (or foreign equivalent) and active membership in at least one U.S. state bar

  2. 5+ years of experience as a practicing attorney at a law firm and/or in-house

  3. Experience with one of the following or related legal areas: product or regulatory counseling, consumer protection, and/or privacy

  2. Experience working independently and cross-functionally

  3. Experience prioritizing work and providing advice in a fast-paced environment

  4. Experience taking on projects involving different subject matters and supporting a dynamic portfolio of clients

  5. Experience with international legal requirements, especially those related to youth privacy/data protection

  6. Experience working effectively across multiple jurisdictions and time zones

Public Compensation:

$167,000/year to $233,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits
