Provides supervisory assistance in the maintenance of campus grounds and remote sites through the use of large equipment to including riding mowers, tractors, backhoe, sweepers, push powers, string trimmers, backpack blowers, and other tools necessary for proper landscape care.Maintains landscape to University standards. Reports trouble conditions on campus especially in areas related to landscape such as trip hazards, broken limbs, water breaks, and any other conditions that might be a safety hazard to the University community.Safely operates landscape equipment to include riding mowers, tractors, backhoe, sweepers, push mowers, string trimmers, backpack blowers and other tools necessary for proper landscape care.Drivers University owned light or medium duty trucks and trailers in the transport of crew members, equipment, tools, materials, and supplies to or from work sites. Maintain acceptable driver rating as established in Policy: UTS157 Section 2.5.4.Performs minor preventative maintenance on equipment and power tools, maintains preventative maintenance schedules, reports maintenance repairs, and cleans equipment used by Landscape Services.Follows established safety procedures. Maintains the shop areas, work sites, equipment, and tools in a safe and orderly fashion.Follows and readily accepts written and oral instructions and maintains work schedules set by the supervisor. Attends shop and departmental meetings. Attends required safety training sessions or classes. Completes and submits accurate daily labor and weekly time reports.Completes moderate computer tasks, reviews and completes daily labor reports, and evaluates performance of staff.Other related duties will be assigned, including working with other departments within the University and throughout The University of Texas System.Ability to pull, push, and lift up to 50lbs. including shoveling gravel and aggregates. Adheres to and performs related functions as assigned, and works overtime in support of special events, emergencies, and planned after hours work.
