Job Title: Allergy Tech/Mixing Assistant Dept: Allergy Lab Immediate Supervisor: Allergy Lab Manager General Summary: Responsible for the correct and accurate mixing of all allergy treatment vials. Responsible for maintaining skin testing trays and intradermal vials. Responsible for accurately updating patient allergy schedules. Responsible for troubleshooting and taking corrective action for any discrepancies in patient formulas, schedules, etc. Must have understanding of GAAAI protocols, immunotherapy schedules and dosing procedures. Responsible for maintaining appropriate PPE and sterility procedures in the vial mixing areas. Responsible for the organization and maintenance of Mixing documentation. Strong multi- tasker who serves as the first line for Mixing inquiries. Maintains all deliveries and ensures proper billing. Accurately inputs new and remix patient data into Rosch system for Mixing. Sends out communications to patients and ensures proper follow-up. Strong organizational skills are a must! Essential Job Responsibilities 1. Must adhere to the PPE and sterility guideline as set forth by AAAAI for mixing personnel. 2. Must understand and maintain pt’s information and extract information in the Rosch system. 3. Must accurately and precisely mix all pt allergy vials. Must understand and correctly perform dilutions. 4. Must maintain positive personal relations with the Medical Staff, Administrative Staff and coworkers. 5. Must understand the appropriate billing requirements for both new and remixed vials for all major insurance carriers; must document insurance information appropriately. 6. Must understand extract turbidity/particulate requirements. Must check expiration dates for all extracts. Must understand the appropriate storage requirements for all materials. 7. Must maintain inventory log for all extracts. 8. Acts as a resource for MA’s, as the subject expert on vials, SCIT schedules and dosing protocols. 9. Must be able to troubleshoot and take appropriate action for any discrepancies in any area of the mixing process. 10. Must have passed a written test as set forth by AAAAI on aseptic technique and extract preparation. 11. Must pass an annual media-fill sterility test. 12. Upload Rosch Mixing Logs into AdvancedMD (EHR) daily. 13. Send out emails and reminders to sublingual immunotherapy (SLIT) patients. 14. Answer patient inquiries about Mixing or refers appropriately. 15. Handle FedEx shipping for satellite clinics and for patients receiving injections outside the clinic, ensuring all paperwork is properly filled out. 16. Check the tracking on packages, note delivery in Rosch and prepare a Shipping billing list. 17. Enter new and remix patient data into Rosch system, and make sure all documentation is complete prior to vials being mixed. 18. High volume of data entry into Rosch and AdvancedMD (EHR) systems 19. Serve as the first line of contact for phone and email inquiries. 20. Other duties, as required. Education: CMA, LVN, MLT or minimum two years in an allergy related field.
