The Wireless Access Network Division (WAND) is the driving force behind the network transformation to Cloud Based Architectures for 4G, 5G and next generation 6G Networks. With significant success at major operators, and new operators wanting to deploy and scale their 5G network in 2024, the WAND team needs to expand its team of operator focused Technical Marketing Engineer (RAN).

Cloud Based RAN infrastructure is based on the Intel FlexRAN reference architecture which is enabling the vRAN/OpenRAN ecosystem. A commercial deployment at major operators requires all ecosystem partners working together closely, and Intel is at the heart of this.

The role is for a Technical Marketing Engineer (RAN) who will be Intel owner of the program aspects as they relate to Intel and it's ecosystem partners to make sure deployments happen on time.

In this role you will work with many teams within Intel covering other Business and Engineering Units within Intel.

As a Technical Marketing Engineer (RAN), you will:

  • Be the voice of the vRAN Communication Service Providers (CoSP) to secure a successful journey through vRAN vision, vendor selection, evaluations, trials and eventually deployments.

  • Define customer program requirements, objectives, milestones and timeline, and work closely with teams across Intel business units to fulfil and deliver programs requirements.

  • Set direction for programs by determining and balancing the technical need versus business impact of program/project decisions and operates within guardrails.

  • Work very closely with external partners on their program plans and ensure Intel is enabling them.

  • Be the key interface with stakeholders and leadership internally.

  • Assign overall tasks to others managing general areas of responsibility in support of program goals.

  • Aid in the development, definition, and execution of Plan of Record (POR) that includes schedules, resources, and deliverables.

  • Ensure that quality standards and budget constraints are met.

  • Create, track, adjust the program schedule analyzing/honing Critical Path.

  • Ensure appropriate progress against schedule and takes remedial action as appropriate.

  • Assess risks and identifies solutions or mitigations to timely, efficient achievement of program goals.

  • Prioritize utilization of resources with other functions.

  • Influence business unit or cross organizational strategies relevant to program goals.

The ideal candidate will have the following skills and behavioral traits in addition to the qualifications listed below.

  • Technical Telco background (RAN preferably) to be willing to lead and participate in technical discussions with engineering teams

  • Strong leadership skills to see the big picture and lead complex projects with cross-functional teams to achieve goals

  • Strong stakeholder management with experience influencing individuals, organizations, technologies and industry.

  • Effective communication skills with willingness to articulate and up-level information based on the audience.

  • Desire to learn/lead through ambiguity.

  • Self-motivated to and willing to take additional responsibilities over time to contribute to the team's success.

  • Strong business acumen and experience collaborating with Marketing and/or Business Development.

Qualifications

You must possess the below minimum education requirements and minimum required qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Additional preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates.

Minimum Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or similar and 8+ years of related work experience.

  • 5+ years Experience with Platform/Product Development and/or Program Management.

  • 5+ years Experience in the Telco industry with a Radio Access Network infrastructure software vendor.

  • 5+ years Experience working with Communication Service Providers on delivering key milestones, such as lab trials, network launch etc.

Additional Preferred Qualifications :

  • Master's degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering, or similar and 10+ years of related work experience.

  • Experience working with Silicon Architecture, Firmware/Software development, and platform engineering team
