Employees at this level are virtually self-supervising and assume direct accountability for the work product.Essential Duties:Transportation Specialist IThe essential duties for this job include:Assists with development and review of traffic engineering standards and policies and ensure compliance with state and federal requirements. Develops, revises, and publishes engineering drawings for traffic engineering manuals, standard sheets, and handbooks utilizing engineering and publishing software.Ensures compliance with specifications for devices; safety laws, rules, and regulations; and the TMUTCD.modified - Investigates and responds to questions on traffic signs, pavement markings, or other traffic related items.Provides technical assistance for the design of traffic signs and related design software to meet state and federal requirements.Researches and evaluates data, interprets and analyzes results, prepares reports and recommends solutions to problems.Reviews and maintains accurate historical records of revisions to traffic engineering manuals, standard sheets, and handbooks.
