Performs highly advanced computer system and network analysis work. Work involves leading and coordinating activities associated with planning and analysis of requirements to improve or implement new systems or network to include a local area network or wide area network Internet and intranet systems, or other data networks. Work also includes planning, designing, and monitoring and analyzing existing hardware and software and developing associated policies and procedures. Work will entail engagement with the Network Operations team and as well as TxDOTandrsquo;s managed service provider, monitoring service performance, contractual oversight, project delivery, and issue resolution. Leads team of technical employees and contract staff. Works under minimal supervision, with extensive latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgmentEssential Duties: Reviews network system plans for completeness and accuracy and plans and schedules network studies and system implementations.Analyzes existing system procedures for efficiency and effectiveness.Determines operational, technical, and support requirements for the location, installation, operation, and maintenance of data communications, agency network systems, and supporting technologies.Monitors and defines the requirements of the overall security of the enterprise network.Monitors and implements hardware and software solutions to help mitigate a wide variety of network attacks.Drafts budget recommendations for network facilities, analyzes user support statistics, and implements appropriate measures.
