In this position…

The Transmission NVH Development Engineer’s product scope predominantly covers hybrid and step automatic transmissions that are utilized in a variety of vehicles: full hybrid, plug-in hybrid, and gas or diesel internal combustion engine applications. NVH goals are typically to suppress whines, moans, rattles, and clunks that can occur with transmission system electric motors, gears, and clutches, with consideration of their interfacing components. Product support can range from evaluating new concepts in the analytical design stage up through diagnosing and resolving phenomena identified with production hardware.

What you'll do…

  • Lead test and development for NVH attributes to meet program timing and deliverables. Attribute testing can be transmission rig or vehicle based.

  • Support the design & release team with anticipated NVH effects of possible design choices.

  • Analytical simulation support: Could involve running simulations or providing key parameters to other analysts:

  • Torsional: Amesim 1D, Ford Automated System Simulation Toolchain (FASST)

  • Gear noise: Romax

  • Finite element model updates: Hypermesh

  • Transient: ADAMS

  • Support Vehicle NVH and Propulsion NVH teams by providing transmission content specifics to aid program assessments and resolution of issues found on prototypes.

  • Support resolution of production quality issues.

  • Lead or support method development and issue prevent recurrence activities. Prevention measures could include assessment methods, targets, or design rules.

  • Document results and conclusions. Summarize product assessments and present to management.

You'll have…

  • BS or MS degree in Engineering.

  • 3+ years of experience in powertrain NVH development including data acquisition, processing, and interpretation (transmission or driveline preferred).

  • Strong communication, planning, and technical skills.

  • Self-starter capable of establishing processes and delivering results.

  • Commercial analytical tool experience, preferred, but not required: Amesim, Romax, ADAMS, Hypermesh

This position is a range of salary grades 6-8.
