Amazon App Analyst - Blackline, Corporate Reporting Systems in Austin, Texas

Amazon is a fast paced, dynamic, high-tech company based in Seattle. Amazon’s accounting team is searching for bar-raising financial accounting professionals who consistently exceed expectations, who thrive in a challenging workplace, and who can actively contribute to our talented team. This specific role is looking for highly engaged Application Analysts to expand the Blackline application's functionalities to support Amazon at scale and reduce the manual effort in performing account reconciliations.

This role requires proficiency in the analysis of system requirements, functional optimization, system configuration, end user support and ongoing maintenance. An effective analyst is expected to bring and develop relevant technical, functional, and process skills to support financial systems projects and initiatives, which affect accounting.

We are looking for individual contributor candidates who have held similar positions in large public companies or who have held functional engineering /consultant level positions with a consulting firm for 4 or more years with at least 2 years in Blackline technology implementations. Successful candidates for this position will have the equivalent of 4+ years of general professional experience (including broad financial reporting systems and process implementation experience).

Key job responsibilities

This position, Application Analyst - Blackline, will be responsible for delivering and supporting solutions for our global accounting team within our Enterprise Reporting platform, which includes the following systems: Blackline, Oracle Financials General Ledger, Hyperion Financial Management, Essbase, Smart View, and Workiva. As a Corporate Reporting Systems Engineer, you will identify opportunities to design, and deploy technology solutions that enable strategic initiatives and operational improvements primarily within the Blackline Application. Additional responsibilities include ensuring application controls are designed and operating effectively to support our internal controls over financial reporting.

About the team

The Corporate Reporting Systems (CRS) team implements new applications and supports existing applications used by Worldwide Accounting & Finance and strives to continually improve our accounting processes, reporting, and control capabilities.

Basic Qualifications

  • Degree in Economics, Finance, Business Administration, Information Technology or related field

  • 4+ years' of relevant experience in a similar position with practical experience in Blackline and processes

  • Proven track record of successful design, implementation, and/or participation in large-scale enterprise accounting applications

  • Relevant experience in gathering, analyzing and synthesizing business requirements and when needed escalating actions from multiple sources

Preferred Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience with Blackline Account Reconciliations and Task Management

  • Experience in effective use of integrations to and from Blackline

  • Experience with AWS services such as S3, SNS/SQS, and Lambda functions

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $136,000/year in our lowest geographic market up to $264,500/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
