Responsibilities

The hospice aide/home health aide provides personal care, homemaking services and other supportive services for people in their place of residence. All such services will be provided in accordance with an individualized, comprehensive patient care plan and under the supervision of a Registered Nurse and/or a Physical, Occupational, or Speech Therapist, when appropriate, in compliance with the agency’s policies and standards of practice.

Qualifications

18 years or older and completion of a state approved license program for Home Health Aide or Nursing Assistant training program required.

Previous work experience as a certified nursing assistant within the past 12 months is preferred.

Experience with end-of-life or geriatric populations preferred.

Must possess clear written and verbal communication and excellent interpersonal skills; ability to read, write and carry out directions. Must be able to work independently.

Must be able and willing to drive-in all-weather conditions and cover service area. Mileage will be reimbursed. Must provide personal mode of transportation to patient’s place of residence. Valid driver’s license, proof of auto insurance, and acceptable driving record as defined by policy required.

Must be able to work any shift, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

Maintains current Basic Life Support (BLS) for Health Care Providers from one of the following programs: American Heart Association or American Red Cross. If a candidate does not currently have BLS for Health Care Providers, certification will be included as part of the orientation program.
