Inns of Aurora Facilities Technician II in Aurora, New York

$20.00-$25.00 hourly Depending on experience

POSITION PURPOSE:

• Under the direction of the Maintenance Supervisor, Facilities Technician II oversees, executes, and is responsible for the care and maintenance of the facilities of the Inns of Aurora properties, with an emphasis placed on painting/carpentry tasks.

RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES/FUNCTIONS/TASKS:

• Execute painting/carpentry work as assigned while demonstrating proper techniques and procedures in the use of hand tools, power equipment, paint and chemical applications

• Demonstrate knowledge of carpentry skills as they apply to facilities maintenance and repair with a focus on quality, accuracy and timeliness

• Identify areas of concern and perform necessary maintenance through the completion of carpentry work

• Assist facilities department co-workers with maintenance projects as required seasonally, including but not limited to, systems maintenance and snow removal

• Maintain detailed maintenance records and logs

• Exercise safe work practices, methods and procedures

• Perform other duties, as assigned

• Maintain regular attendance

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Working knowledge of the methods, materials, procedures, techniques, tools and equipment used in various painting/carpentry and construction practices including framing, sheetrock, finish work, crown molding and trim work

• Ability to maintain and install doors and windows

• Working knowledge of basic electrical and plumbing applications

• Working knowledge of health and safety regulations related to power equipment and toxic chemical applications

• Ability to operate a wide variety of shop tools, pneumatic fastening tools and other necessary equipment

• Highly developed sense of organization

• Ability to communicate effectively with others

• A friendly and professional work ethic and demeanor

• Previous customer service experience

• Ability to work independently, with little or no supervision

• Excellent written and oral communication skills

• Flexibility in scheduling, including nights and weekend availability

PREFERENCES:

• Four years of maintenance experience

• Graduation from a standard high school or G.E.D. equivalent with trade and vocational school courses completed

• Certification in trade (carpenter, electrical, HVAC, plumbing, related) preferred

SPECIAL POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

• Proven record of observing legal and defensive driving practices, as verified by the NYS Lens Program
