Job Summary:

The Department of Immunology and Microbiology at the University of Colorado School of Medicine is seeking a Postdoctoral Fellow with a background in Immunology and statistics/data science. This position will be with the Gapin Lab, an innovative, interdisciplinary research program that is aimed at studying the biology of unique T lymphocyte populations, especially innate-like T cells which are restricted by non-peptide antigens bound to non-classical MHC molecules e.g. iNKT and MAIT cells. We will work with the fellow to find the projects within the lab that are most tailored to their 1) skillset and 2) long-term career goals.

The successful candidate will be responsible for performing on a very independent basis all phases of experimental investigations and collaborates with the principal investigators, senior researchers, graduate students and technicians in the progress of major research projects.

The duties and responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:

  1. Plans, develops, operates, records, collaborates and reports on major research projects.

  2. Performs as the technical advisor on techniques involving complex analyses utilizing highly sophisticated techniques. Provides general guidance to laboratory staff, including technicians, support and auxiliary staff. Acts as a leader for laboratory programs and staff in assigned areas.

  3. Plans, organizes and leads the work of subordinate Lab Researchers and related staff.

  4. Performs routine and non-routine tests leading to the successful completion of developed experiments.

  5. Prepares statistical tabulations, using a calculator or computer.

  6. Ensures laboratory and staff compliance with departmental, Center and regulatory policies

  7. Maintains laboratory records, supplies, samples in an organized manner (such as a laboratory notebook and sample storage record).

  8. Performs all other duties as assigned.

Salary Range:

The salary range ( or hiring range ) for this position has been established at $53,760 - $65,292 in alignment with current NIH salary range dependent upon years of postdoctoral experience.

The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.

The above salary range ( or hiring range ) represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a PhD/MD in Immunology.

  • Minimum of 3 year(s) experience in the field of T cell biology.

  • Records of first author manuscripts in peer-reviewed journals.

Preferred Qualifications

  • A background in genetics and single cell approaches is preferred.

  • Bioinformatics skills are desirable, including but not limited to R and Python.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.

  • The ability to work independently and as part of a team within the research lab.
