Job Overview
The Medical Technologist I is responsible for performing laboratory testing and procedures in any/all areas of the laboratory and reporting timely accurate test results. Our laboratory testing plays a key role in the detection, diagnosis and treatment of pediatric, adult and prenatal conditions. With state-of-the-art laboratory services, facilities and technologies, we support and guide quality patient care across the pediatric spectrum. Our labs offer a wide range of high-quality lab screenings and diagnostic tests with rapid turnaround times, as well as an unmatched scope and capabilities, including diagnostic tests that aren't available anywhere else in the country. This position supports the Core Laboratory, which offers general and specialized laboratory testing on blood, body fluids and urine 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The laboratory technologists at each Children's Hospital Colorado lab are specially trained on the intricacies of pediatric laboratory testing, so they can provide the extra level of expertise necessary to help diagnose and treat pediatric illnesses.
Additional Information
Department: Core Lab (Chemistry and Hematology) Hours per pay week: 40, eligible for benefits Shift: Days (1330-2200) Monday - Friday. With rotating weekends and holidays.
Qualifications
EDUCATION - Bachelor's degree in a chemical, physical, biological, or clinical laboratory science or medical technology from an accredited institutio EQUIVALENCY - Meeting one of the other requirements set by the ASCP Board of Certification may be accepted in lieu of degree. CERTIFICATION(S) -Medical Technologist/Scientist Certification ASCP or equivalent or; certification required within 6 months of eligibility Previous laboratory experience in Chemistry and Hematology is preferred.

Responsible for reporting accurate results, evaluating results for clinical significance and validity, and for recognition of atypical/abnormal results requiring additional follow up. Ensures quality control is acceptable and instrumentation is functioning and maintained within defined tolerance limits and documentation is completed. Consciously works to minimize errors and takes responsibility for correcting and documenting errors in a timely manner.
