Job Overview

The Flight Nurse I provides direct patient nursing care in a transport environment, while initiating, assessing and adjusting therapies during transport in response to changes in patient conditions; builds and maintains relationships with multidisciplinary healthcare providers; and collects, monitors, and reports on quality-of-care measures.

Qualifications

Education:Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) Experience:Four Years in Neonatal ICU, Pediatric ICU, Pediatric Cardiac ICU, or High Acuity Pediatric Emergency Department (Pediatric Level 1 Trauma Center experience preferred) Equivalency:None Required Certification(s):BLS/CPR from the American Heart Association with at least 6 months left before expiration is required upon hire. Specialty certification within one (1) year of hire. Transport specific specialty certification (C-NPT, CFRN or CTRN) required within two (2) years of hire. Licensure(s):Registered Nurse (RN) in Colorado (Compact Multi-State license preferred)

POPULATION SPECIFIC CARE Neonate - 30 days to 1yr Toddlers - >1yr to 3yrs Pre-Schoolers - >3yrs to 5yrs School age - >5yrs to 13yrs Adolescent - >13yrs to 18yrs Adult - >18yrs to 65yrs ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS An employee in this position may be called upon to do any or all of the following essential functions. These examples do not include all of the functions which the employee may be expected to perform. Delivers patient and family centered care in a transport environment while incorporating developmentally appropriate, culturally sensitive, evidence based care practices and methodologies. Assesses and adjust therapies during transport in response to changes in patient outcomes. Communicates and advocates patient values, preferences and expressed needs as part of the implementation of care plan, evaluation of care and assessment of patient/family learning needs. Build and maintains strong working elationships with multidisciplinary healthcare providers to provide individualized patient/family care and education while minimizing risks to the patient during transitions of care.
