Job Description:

The Role: CNA Instructor (RN) - Acute Care

  • Utilizes the required curriculum to plan lessons, educate students, and evaluate student participation and learning.

The Opportunity:

We are offering an exciting opportunity for an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) to join our MaineGeneral team as a per diem CNA Instructor for our Acute Care Earn to Learn program at the Alfond Center for Health in Augusta.

The CNA Instructor will utilize the state-required nursing assistant curriculum to plan lessons, educate students, and evaluate student participation and learning over each 9-week class session.

Time spent as the CNA Instructor will vary depending on class schedule, and cycles throughout the year.

Position Highlights:

• Build lasting, meaningful relationships with students, residents, and families.

• Use your hands-on nursing experience to impact patients’ lives by teaching assigned classes to students new to healthcare.

• Invest in students’ lives – watch them grow and support them in their career development.

The Work:

  • Works Collaboratively with academic and administrative leadership to assess the needs and objectives of students and organization and to develop appropriate solutions.

  • Develops teaching outlines and selects or develops teaching aids/activities as appropriate. Applies knowledge of learning principles to teach various types of formats of learning content.

  • Monitors students' progress throughout assigned courses and provides support and resources as appropriate. Ensures safe practices in classroom, laboratory, and clinical settings.

  • Provides supervision to students, tracking attendance, completion of skills lists, and academic success per state requirements.

You Have:

  • Current State of Maine Registered Nurse (RN) license or ability to obtain one in a timely fashion, required.

  • A minimum of 2 years of experience as a Registered Nurse: at least 1 year experience in the area of Long Term Care is required.

  • Completed a course in teaching adults and/or experience in teaching adults or supervising CNAs, required.
